Why your qualification may not be on the Tariff

If you cannot find your specific qualification on the Tariff, it may be because:

1. In many instances, the Tariff is established by mapping classes of qualifications i.e. qualifications that cover generic standards such as the FENTO standards or NVQs in Learning and Development to the units of assessment developed from the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers.

The title of the qualification shown on the Tariff is the generic title for that qualification (which may be included in the title of the individual qualification) but there is no reference to individual awarding institutions.  For example, the Further Education Teachers’ Certificate (FETC) was awarded by a number of awarding bodies and carried particular brand names such as the City and Guilds 7407.

To make your search more fruitful, we have added keywords or phrases that many qualifications were popularly know by e.g. 7407 for the City and Guilds FETC.  Try entering a keyword in the search field and you may be successful in your search. If you wish to seek further clarification check the title on the certificate from your awarding body.

To contact the awarding body for your qualification go to the National Qualifications Database or contact the LLUK Information and Advisory Service

 2. We are continually researching qualifications to be considered for inclusion on the Tariff of Qualifications (ITT) and currently a Tariff may not yet have been established for your qualification.

Qualifications selected for mapping and including in the Tariff must meet the selection criteria that have been established and verified by the Project's Board and Projects' Assurance Group, the bodies by which the Tariff project is governed. The scope of the mapping process is those qualfications available between 1996 and 2007.

3. Where qualifications have been selected for consideration, we cannot always source the detailed specifications required to carry out the mapping and establish a Tariff.  To date these are:

  • ENB 998 Teaching and Assessing in Clincal Practice

4. Some qualifications that have been selected for the mapping process for inclusion in the Tariff did not recieve any Tariff. To date these are:

  • CIEH Professional Trainer Certificate
  • NVQ L5 Learning and Development
  • NVQ L4 Management of Learning and Development
  • ENTO Certificate in Mentoring/Coaching in the Workplace
  • ISTD Foundation in Dance Instruction
  • Trinity Guildhall Drama and Speech Licentiate Diploma
  • YMCAfit Personal Trainer Award

If your qualification is not on this list or on the database and you would like it to be considered, please e-mail tariff@svuk.eu and notify the Tariff team.
